Title
Australian Scene Strangely Familiar To Canadians
Description
Montreal, Quebec
Part one of a six part co-series with Cartoonist Ed McNally about spending several weeks in Australia. Desbarats saw similarities between Canada and Australia. He found it erily similar to Canada, refering to it as the "other Canada." He describes different terminology for social groups. To him, Australians were heavy beer drinkers in the early evening. Pubs in Melbourne closed at 6pm so there was a large rush just before closing. He also compares the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry in Australia to the Montreal-Toronto rivalry in Canada.
