In Our Weeks of Anguish: A Journal of October
Description
Desbarats recounts his experience of the October Crisis of 1970. He provides a day-by-day account of his experience from Monday October 5, 1970 through to Monday October 25, 1970. He was creating a documentary on separatism for CBC at the time and was forced to speed up production to better coincide with the recent kidnappings of Cross Pierre Laporte. The release of his documentary was eventually pushed back. During these 30 days, he facilitated various panel discussions on CBC news programs such as Format 30, The Hourglass and Take Thirty; Peter received a death threat for appearing too separatist in an interview with Montreal Mayor Jean Drapeau. The article ends before James Cross’ release and with a great deal of apprehension about the effects of the War Measures Act on Quebec society.
