An Allegiance Without Thought: Canada's Support of U.S. Military Action in Iraq has no Purpose
            Description
London, Ontario
In this article, Desbarats discusses his opinion on Canada's support of the United States' military involvement in Iraq. He cites Canada’s previous involvement in America’s invasion of Somalia as a complete and dangerous failure with very little discussion or forethought; he was a commissioner of the Somalia Inquiry from 1995 to 1997. He believed that a similar situation was occurring with Canada’s involvement in Iraq. He argues that Canada’s past decisions to act independently of either Britain or the United States helped to bolster its international image and increase economic relations.
