Part five of a six part co-series with Cartoonist Ed McNally about spending several weeks in Australia. Desbarats writes about a very rough Austalian bar with an electric international mix of labourers from a uranium and copper mine in Rum Jungle, 60 miles South of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. He believed it to be a “mirror image” of Canada’s North. He also compared this region of Australia to northern Canada with its slow economic development and transporatation issues. He also highlights the issues arising from developing aboriginal lands.
