Why are we in Viet Nam? Well,… er…
Description
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada had joined the International Commission of Control and Supervision in Vietnam. Desbarats attributed Canada’s decision to join to both a genuine belief that the country could help mediate a truce as well as Canada's belief that its assisting the US in ending an unpopular war would ensure favorable political and economic relations in the future. However, Desbarats argues that Canada’s involvement in Viet Nam is not being properly recognized by America, especially considering the preoccupation of news outlets with the recent Watergate Scandal.
