Title
Liberals Dream of an East-West Alliance
Description
Ottawa, Ontario
A unique but potentially fruitful political tactic the Libreral Party was considering is discussed by Desbarats. The Liberal government was considering abandoning the Toronto and southern Ontario area in favour of focusing on Quebec for an East-West alliance. The reason for this being, that by abandoning Toronto and focusing on Quebec, the western provinces would be more inclined to vote Liberal, considering they seem to dislike the financial centre of Toronto and bureaucratic centre of Ottawa. Additionally, the past successful alliance made between east and west by William Lyon Mackenzie King was cited as a precedent.
